do you want a good tire for the road, or for auto-x?

If you are a casual auto-xer then they might be fine.
If you are trying to be competative, then i think there is better.

Eeek 400TW. I'd suggest not wasting your money on the GT and go straight for an extreme performance summer tire. I don't think you'd be happy with them on course. For me, its easier to go a little slower during heavy rain on the street for better performance on course.

I've been rocking Bridgestone RE-11A's for 4000 miles and 36 Autoocross runs. I'm very happy with they're performace in both instances. They even handled the monsoon season we've been having here in MI well above my expectations for an extreme performance tire. They have been wearing great as well. With that being said, I just sold them. They're still not fast enough.

Great looking stance with the new wheels and rubber for the cone attacks.

Those BFGs look good.

In general and IMO.... yes... they do (or should do) well with the right car in the right class with the right driver.

So, I saw a sale on the RE-11s on TireRack ... and decided to get a set. since they are phasing them out.

Looking forward to trying them out, will have them for our local AutoX and also will test them at FF2013.

I have driven on the ZIs and RS3s, and am wanting to see how these run. I have heard they are not bad in the wet.

I wanted to aim for some of the Michelin Super Sports, but they don't make em for 16s.

May have to get a new set of wheels to grab a set of Michelin's at the end of the year to try out.

The RE-11 Closeout isn't that great of a "closeout".

The closeout price is +/- a couple dollars compared to the RE-11A. Rivals and Z2's are an Alexander Hamilton or 2 more.

What size did you get?

Yeah, I know.

But I was wanting to go with smaller tires. Only reason, I have been battling a Mini Cooper and a Mazda2 who have taken me out more than I have competed with them on smaller tires.

I at the moment run on 225/50R16 RS3s and wanted something like 215/45R16s. Only Kumho offers that. And with all the reviews and personally talks with locals, the Kumhos just aren't at the level with everyone else yet.

I also had the DirezzaIIs on my debate with their 225/45R16s vs these. The RE-11A didn't have a smaller sidewall set. smallest was the 205/50R16.

So, I saw that the RE-11 (closeouts) had the 205/45R16s ... I decided to give that size a go. And step away from wide. I have this notion in my head that the smaller the tire, the better the rotation.

And I have adjustable camber all around, so I may do -3.5 in the front and -1/0 in the back. And see how that feels.

I run on the Hankook RS3s with 225/50R16s. And they feel great. But ever so often on a hard transition they rub.

Changed my camber some and they rub slightly the shock. But still are functional.

It is a great look and they are good feel on the course.

I decided to go with smaller this round though.
