1.8ltr Mod or Convert to 2.0ltr

Howdy, as the title says, I have a 2004, 1.8ltr 5speed manual EFI Zetec.
Now.... is it worth me trying to punch out more from this puppy or is a bigger motor e.g the 2.0ltr or even the XR5 Turbo able to squeeze into the LR Version that I have in my avatar... I will be doing the usual mods like suspension, sway bars, struts and all, but want to know about the power plants in these beasties and what best for my model. I want to beaf up this car for track days, the occasional hill climb and performance car club runs. Just need a hint in the right direction to build this baby... Cheers all... Justin

Took me a minute to figure out that you are from Australia and have a different trim package than US and EU. I don't really have any good advise other than if your want an XR5, then you might as well just buy one. Not to hate on anyone, but swaps are going to pain and either you already have the time/skill/money to do it or you don't. There is no reason you couldn't (and this is very very basic description) turbo and tune the 1.8L that is in there. It would probably be the bang for your buck and easier

Moved your thread to the engine and trans swap area. It's always better to go with the bigger motor for more power. Your best bet is to find a donor car to get everything you need from it. I don't know how much is different between those two motors being that your in a different country but I'm sure it's probably the same as switching from a SPI to a Zetec like we do here in the states.
