Unable to put gas in the tank!

What the Hell has gone wrong to cause me to NOT BE ABLE to add gas at anything faster than a very slow rate (better than a trickle - but not much)? Anything that I can check or service myself?

Any info - comments - feedback welcome!

The fuel vent hose might be blocked somehow....maybe spiders. Maybe someone put something down the filler tube blocking/slowing the flow.

I have two Focus, one does it the other doesn't. On the one I can't fill I twist nozzle close to upside down and it fills perfectly at full speed then. The inlet hoses are primo as I have had them loose on both cars servicing fuel pumps. Go figure. Think in terms of gushing enough fuel in that local spot so that it stacks up to trip the gas pump sensor. Move flow around the opening and suddenly you're filling at top speed.

Like they say, could be something's changed if doing it when didn't before. The one of mine has always filled slow.

I just removed the lower flap door in the hard line of the filler neck on my granddaughters '00 SE 4 door. Was gummed up so bad it would not flip open when fuel hit it. Could not get it to work free so it is gone now. It is an anti splash back gate that is really not needed....just some plastic.

Had to get under the car and remove the two steel lines of the filler neck from the rubber hoses into the tank. Both are regular hose clamps. Then removed the right rear tire and inner fender well to remove the mounting bolts for the filler neck and take it out of the car. Once there, you can see how to fix the little door in the end of the steel line.

Sounds like something I'd do. Never been forced to do it yet, didn't know there was another door in there.

Unable to Fill Gas Tank (Well Almost not able to)

I have had an increasing problem putting gas in my 04 ZTW. I have checked the fill and vent tubes and all other hoses I can get to at the tail end of the gas tank and they are all clear and unobstructed. I'm leaning toward the problem existing in the charcoal canister/EVAP. Would it be a huge ASSumption that it is the problem?

I'll give this a try!

Assuming it is a vented nozzle. If you hold the capture tube back does it fill normally?

No. I have held the 'flap' open but still have to just trickle in the gas.
