5 speed zetec to 6 speed swap

going to pick up a 6 speed off the junk yard for a good price...I'm also going to get the axles, shifting cables, shifting booth, actual shifter, clutch, flywheel and that's it...anything else I should get???

what about the speedometer? what can I do so it can be accurate?

and what do you guys think about performance wise??? will my car be better at straights?? or 1/4 mile??

I have a jrsc + bbk and about every bolt on...

and last question if I were to get a OEM brand new clutch for the svt tranni would it hold 180-210whp? that's my goal to get later!

thanks!

my advice would be to get an upgraded clutch and since ur gonna have the tranny out swap in an LSD! But as far as the tranny goes idk if it will bolt directly up to ur motor! i think the bell housings r diff!

The tranny will bolt right up but swap out your cluster for a SVT one so your speedometer is still right. Also you will probably be slower 1/4 mile times as the SVT trannys have a very tall 1st gear.

dont forget the svt speed sensor pigtail. you gotta stick it on the stock harness. for the speedometer you can either get some1 to send you a tune for the ecu or you might be able to use the gauge cluster from an SVT, MABY. ive never heard of some1 using the svt cluster but it might work. id just get a tune for it. the mtx to getrag is almost a direct swap. there isnt a who ton of fabrication needed. unless you have some serious traction issues you arent going to pick up alot as far as drag racing goes. you might actually be a little slower. the getrag isnt the greatest for that aplication

It will slow you down in a straight line for sure. Shifting slows you down the most in straight-line acceleration. The extra gear is nice in road racing, where you always want to stay in the power band. But for drag racing, the less times you have to shift, the better off you are.

i kinda doubt there is a drag racing focus owner who has gotten out of 4th gear in the 1/4 mile. zx3s can hit around 120 in 4th depending what rpm you shift at. the mtx is only better because you have a shorter throw to go from gear to gear, parts are cheaper, and the gears arent as tall.

Youre going to need a tune to change the OSS holes scalar to 89, otherwise your speedo will be REALLY fast and miles will accumulate 3x as fast
