Military question
Hey guys, I'm looking for a career change. I'm a teacher, I'm 31 years old, male, physically fit, and I have a BS and MA in Education. I want to get into the military. What could I possibly could I do in any branch? I also wouldn't mind teaching there too. Basically, I'm looking for a change of scenery.

Well you would have to join first, and choose a job. I know in the Army (currently serving) we have an ASI (Additional Skills Identifier) of 8 which is an Instructor (currently hold that ASI). I would suggest going Commissioned Officer with the degrees you hold. My next question would be besides teaching what else do you like to do?

What do you mean by change of scenery? Perhaps you'd be better becoming a teacher for DoD schools around the world.
If you actually mean career change, your ASVAB, GT, ELEC, CLR, MT scores will reflect what job you can do in the military. Like others stated, go for officer candidacy, since you have hold degrees. Definitely go to a recruiting branch and talk to all the services to see which best suits yourself. Look for personal youtube videoss on their views too..

First and foremost talk to an Officer Recruiter for each of the services. Ask a lot of questions, best to write them down. Keep notes during the interviews, that will impress the recruiter. Take this serious, it is not a light step in life. Remember the military as a whole will be going through a dramatic drawdown so you will have to listen intently to what they are offering. I helped recruit special operators for a time in the Air Force. The guys that were prepared and did the research got in and I field trained and led into operations many of them. Find what you love and see if it can be accomodated in the militray. Stay out of the motor pool as a officer it is not a good field for promotion. Got questions PM me.

Personally, with the shit storm the military is becoming right now.. I would say don't do it.
Move and become a teacher somewhere else if you need a change in scenery. Sent from my Man Cannon via FF Mobile |
