Intake manifold gasket question

The manifold should have groves at each runner that interfaces with the head.

What do you mean by this? The top piece of the manifold bolts to the head and I took that off and it had weird kinda tear drop shaped gaskets that were NOT these. They were between the intake manifold and the head.

I also checked where the 4 black couplers connect the top of the intake manifold to the bottom of it and found no gaskets there, just the couplers and clamps.

Perhaps these 4 circle gaskets go further down in the boxy part of the manifold? I don't know...

Those tear drop gaskets used to be round like rubber bands. Take a small flat head screw driver remove the old tear shaped ones. Just work the new bands into the lower intake channel
