Lift Gate won't open

Hi,

I have a lift gate that won't open using the dash button, fob or lift gate button. It's been that way for a while (I was told this was due to a broken wire between the body and rear door) but now the key lock is seized as well. Is there a way to open the lift gate manually so I can get at the wires?

Thanks,
Duane

Apparently, some cars have a button near the hatch pull and above the license plate. I'd check our wagon but my wife is out with it at the moment.
Check this thread.

Edit: I just re-read your message. Seems you already know about the button above the license plate. (I didn't.) So you can ignore this post. Obviously, I'm a "Focus Rookie".

So it sounds like getting the hatch open manually (ie. with a screwdriver) is possible. I'm hoping someone can explain how they did it - preferably without doing any permanent damage.

Following that, I've got wiring to fix and perhaps a locking mechanism.
