Driving today in the suburbs (southeast MI) was worse than the night before. The roads got plowed, but whatever snow that was left; half-melted during the day and turned my whole subdivision into an ice rink after the sun went down.

WEEEEEEEE!

Edit: Okay, that was like the first gif that showed up when I Googled "Ice slide .gif". Don't judge me.

I had Bridgestone Blizzaks installed on my Titanium and there are no issues whatsoever. Took the car out in the wee morning after the snow and I was thoroughly impressed. The TC light did come on a couple of times but I eased off the accelerator. Remember, it's witner and you're not gonna have the same traction! FYI, I had Michelin Ice-X 2 on my previous car which was a Nissan Altima and they were horrid in the snow.

BTW, regarding that Toronto joke about sending in the army......too funny! However, some people just cannot drive in the winter and I wonder why they're even on the road to begin with.

I was out in mine drifting in parking lots and such... Can't say I had any unwanted grip issues...

The focus handles particularly well in snow especially with snow tires on.

Just easing off the accelerator when the traction control comes on is the only thing I can suggest.

My current winter tires have 7/32 left and they're starting to go so this will be its fourth and last winter. 5/32 would be the absolute minimum IMO. Also, your Alpin winter performance tires will not do as well as typical low speed winter tires in the snow, so there's your second disadvantage.

Just put on Michellins X ice XI3 and wow what a difference compared to the continental all seasons. I am plowing through the snow with no issues, thanks to this site, I put on 195/65 R15's on the car and totally loving it. I live in Brampton as well.

My Focus is the best car I've ever driven in the snow!

I bought some new Goodyear Nordics in 2008 for my previous car (03 Vibe), when I went to sell that car the winter tires were still in excellent shape so I kept them for my Focus. Best $600 I ever spent on tires. Even to this day, starting their 5th winter, they have loads of tread left and the grip in snow/slush is amazing. Only downside is they are very noisy on dry pavement. Ohwell :3

I got home from work tonight and proclaimed to the wife that "her" Focus is an absolute beast in the snow. Blizzak WS70s, Traction Control OFF. It was a messy, messy drive home for sure; I started off with the TC on, but pulled over after a while and shut it off--much better!

I never had a car so easy to drive in the snow/sleet/shitty winter conditions and I don't have the best winter tires at all... :/

I still love mine in the snow. But I can get it to go sideways when I want. The tires are still pretty grippy though. Even when I'm trying to slide!

Check out these pics from another thread!
