ZX2 project.

Nov. 2012 - I'd been introduced to the zx2 a few months earlier and all of a sudden felt the need for a project. So, with 400 bucks and a trailer, I wound up with this. 159k on the clock, in desperate need of a clean inside and out, and hadn't been run in almost four months. The current owner was a few days from crushing it but I caught the craigslist ad before that happened. Made a few mistakes along the way, but after some work and a cleaning I drove it to Carlisle PA for All Ford's National in June of '13.

First on the mods list was a short shifter out of an S/R, intake and cd player, which held me over for a little while lol. All while actually learning how to turn a wrench, I was really tired of my brother being able to work on his ranger like it was nothing and all I could do was change the oil, so the point of buying it in the first place was to learn how to do my own stuff, and there have been a few times I thought I had bitten off more than I could chew, but I've made it through.

Summer 2013 - My daily driver at the time, a '99 V6 Mustang, was developing a bad valve so I had to promote the ZX2 from project to driver. For a while I was more concerned with the car getting me from A to B so the mods were on hold for a few months. But, as often goes, just as I said that I came across a part out and scored my next batch of mods. My mustang had stayed stock because it wasn't much to write home about, so throughout this process I was enjoying having a modified car lol. Once I felt comfortable in the cars reliability I went a little crazy with mods.

And now we arrive at the present day. Still modding of course, but at All Ford's '14 I had a very caring friend inform me of a few issues that I had to deal with. Part of me thought that those issues were part of the cars idiosyncrasies but after driving a few zx2's that had been properly cared for I was very wrong. So I got a loaner car from my parents and spent a week fixing everything I should've fixed before I started driving the car in the first place. Now with some much needed work done to it, she's a completely different car and I wish I'd taken care of that sooner.

In regards to future plans I haven't completely decided which direction I'm taking it but I would very much like to boost the car. I know of a lot of turbo builds on these which is very tempting but a procharged zx2 build seems far more interesting. However for now I'm going to continue to enjoy the car and make it the best it can be before I can afford to boost her.

Current Mods:
Keman Intake
2.5" Trubendz Exhaust w/ Magnaflow muffler
Kamikaze Header
Eibach springs with Tokico struts off an S/R
21mm rsb with energy suspension endlinks and bushings.
S/R B&M shifter cut to TWM size with es/bronzoil bushings.
S/R seats
03 front bumper cover with fog lights :)

Future/Pending Mods;
Enkei RSV's with Nitto Neogens
ES master kit
KYB struts
SVT Focus intake manifold swap
Rear disc brake swap
Mazda MX3 bucket seats
Fidanza flywheel w/ Stage 2 clutch
Mfactory LSD
Hawk brake pads
XCAL2 tuning
Boost

I really love this car and am really looking forward to seeing what I ultimately end up with. Would love to get an SVT Focus one day, I've driven my cousins and I love it, but thats for another day. Would really love some feedback, thanks for reading! Will keep this updated as more work is done.
