When I was considering buying a Focus I was quoted slightly less for the SVT than a standard Focus. I think the ABS and side airbags played a factor; my 3 door SVT is still an economy car to the insurance companies, at least where I'm at. I think ABS is going to save more money than doors.

No SVT engine was in the sedan, and I think the 2.3 is harder to find.

I would try to find a 2.3l car. I have a 2004 and it has been fantastic over 144k miles. It is very quick and more fun to drive than my '12 Mk3.

All the MKI manuals have the mtx75 except the svt.

I only suggested '03-'04 because they are likely to have the lowest miles and are newer. As someone else mentioned, stay away from 00-01 because they tended to have more issues. 03 and older also had a lock

Also, the 2.3 dura in a MKI is extremely rare. It is highly unlikely you will find one.

I'd also be wary about buying an SVT simply due to the fact that they may be beat on.
