Putting 18X8's on my FFE in the Spring

Right now I've got Blizzaks on the stock wheels and am really enjoying the car. When the snow melts I'm thinking of putting some performance tires on it, not some low rolling resistance eco tires. So I'm wondering if the wheel/tire combos Tire Rack recommends for the normal Focus will be ok on my FFE. It's suggesting a 225/40-18.

Moved to "Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension - Sponsored By Tire Rack"

I would guess any of the standard offerings would be acceptable. If one of the Tire Rack reps don't chime in, a call into them would probably be beneficial.

Your car weighs a lot more than a normal Focus. In addition to considering the effects of heavier GAWRs and the proper tire load index, you might also want to think about your electric steering assist.

From the Focus Electric Modifiers Guide, section 1-4.

NOTICE: Do not install an off road, aggressive tread or incorrectly sized tire. Any of these may cause elevated stress to the steering system. This can cause the power steering system to overheat and shut off the power assist, which can affect the safety and performance of your vehicle.

Something to keep in mind: FFE comes with 225/50-17 tires as standard, as opposed to the narrower and thinner 215/50-17 tires on gasoline models (SE with optional wheels, base Titanium).

Current stock 18" tires on the Focus Titanium are 235/40-18. Going with 225/40-18 would be a smaller diameter, let alone compared to what you have on your FFE.

I would use a tire size calculator and maintain a diameter as close to stock as possible. For the FFE, my hunch is 225/45-18. But keep in mind 18x8s and performance tires will most definitely affect your range and MPGe.
