got a "new" svt
i picked up a used svt last night, 107xxx miles, new clutch at 90k. so far its an awesome car. i plan to daily drive it. i test drove it a week ago and decided to buy it. theres a couple small things i'm hoping you guys can help me with. first is the most major thing, my shift knob keeps coming off. as i was driving home on the highway last night i shifted into 6th and it came off! not sure why i have pictures to show.
![]() thats what it is like when it comes off, just moves around. ![]() ![]() yes that is tape around it. ![]() thats the bottom of the knob. i was planning if noone had an idea to fix this, drill through both the knob and the shift lever and put a bolt through it. thanks in advanced. |

That is... very messed up. Not even sure what's all going on there. My suggestion would be to use this as an excuse to buy a short throw shifter, check out this link.

Looks like whoever cut the shifter shorter and just let the knob sit on top of the end. Did the previous owner use tape to secure the knob???

If you can get your hands on a tap you can tap new threads.

Thats nasty! If the prev owner did this cr@p id expect to see crap somewhere else! Check exhaust, intake, brakes, and other engine components. Also who did the clutch job? If he did id be scared to drive it
Tuneup including timing belt and componets should be done asap! |

the clutch job was done by a shop, he showed me the papers, it has a magnaflow exhaust on it and the bolts look to be ok, thats the only modification to the car besides rims, here is a crappy cell phone pic, the interior is in excellent shape, the drivers side seat warmer doesnt work (sucks on freezing cold mornings), no antenna on top, front end shakes at 50+ mph, and what ive just noticed, sometimes when i let the clutch out it makes a weird vibrating noise (cant explain it) and goes away when clutch is all way the out.
![]() does anyone know the best way to get this rust and dirt built up crap off the inside of the rims? ive tried 000 steel whool and coke, doesnt work. ive tried aluminum wheel cleaner and doesnt do a thing.
