I thought you wanted a summer tire? The best= Michelin Pilot super sport. DWS is a great a/s tire.

right right, DWS is dry, wet snow, aka an all season tire; which is great at being more versatile but will give up some of the dry and wet advantages to have some snow use. You will want to look at just the extreme contact DW, a summer only tire. Unless you want an all season, then the DWS gets great reviews for that.

The Michelin Pilot super sports are pricey though...about $70 more per tire than the ventus he asked about.

Have you read about any of the tirerack tests, always seem helpful to me.

You said it all right there. I'm on my second set of v12s. Cant beat them for the price. The sidewall could be a little stiffer but at the price thats not a complaint. I would still buy them at a little bit of a higher price with a stiffer sidewall.

Heck, I am satisfied with the Hankook Ventus HRII H405 that cost under $70 ea. They are pretty grippy, don't squeal when pushed hard, they do great in rain and I had no problems in light snow earlier this year. They certainly aren't "the best" but for about $300 out the door for a set, pretty darned good.

I had Hankook Ventus V12 EVO's over the summer and hands down they were the best tire that I have ever used. The grip is unbelievable, both in dry and wet conditions. 100% worth the money.
