Fuel Pump Replacement Help

Hey everyone! The jeep TJ that I have for sale decided to die on my wife yesterday in the middle of traffic. After a long ordeal and getting it to Buckys, they quoted me an outrageous price of $998 to replace a fuel pump. WTF! The pump itself is only $200 from Shucks and I have read online that the job can be done in an hour or so.

I currently do not have a job, yes I am an unemployed college grad, and have little money. I am asking if anyone has any bit of time they can spare and help me install this pump. Here is the guide that I will be going off of:
http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/fu...fuelpump-1.htm

I do not have much to offer to entice help but please know that some help would be greatly appreciated. Anyways, Thanks guys and I hope that I can make it to this upcoming meet.

ya I wish but the jeep is lifted 4+ inches off the ground so it should make it rather easy (Im hoping). It is getting towed to the grandparents place in the Puyallup area today. I have a driveway with a slope and they have a shop...lol kind of a no brainer as to where I want to do the work at.

Oh man, this is fairly simple with the tj, by what year is it? Most fuel pump jobs take about two hours to do, and not much skill. I would help you out but Im leaving for Ohio, so if you still need help when I'm back then let me know! Don't pay a shop

Its a 98 TJ. My wife went to Buckys on South Hill and they wanted $500 at first to do the fuel pump. Then they called an hour or so later and said quoted near $1000. I asked what changed and they said they needed to install a fuel filter and a fuel regulator etc. I told my wife this was bull crap because the pump comes with all of that stuff and is installed right along side with the pump. Buckys was basically trying to take advantage of my wife's lack of knowledge. So I am having it towed from Buckys right now.

Absolutely irritating. Those guys are a bunch of * for trying to take advantage of women. Anyway enough ranting, I suppose I just needed to vent a little.

Got it fixed. It turns out my fuel gauge was off big time and my wife didn't know and let it run out of gas. Also it did not need a new fuel pump but simply just some gas. Buckys should have caught this and probably did and thats why they wanted to rape us on the price. They probably wouldnt have done anything but put some gas in the tank. What Scam Artists.
