Warning Regarding Removing top of AF box
thought of this today at work while i tried pulling the top of the air box off to hear the difference in sound.
Anyway while running with the top of and having a paper air filter. When that filter becomes moist or wet, it will eventually disinigrate and the intake stroke will pull that material straight into your motor. Now when you have a failure and ask to claim warranty when they take pictures of your engine bay without all the proper equipment inplace........guess whos covering the cost. NOT Ford. that is all enjoy your selves hope this provides good insight.

I do believe everyone that has run without a lid for any length of time has advocated for a K&N drop in.

k&N is a good idea for that purpose i also hope it comes with a clamp at least so it doesnt fall off. the stock box keeps the filter in the right spot. anyway just an Fyi

I'm looking to get a Green. I have been running without my lid and yet to have this problem though.
Could you not have reinstalled the lid before you went to ford? I did when I went in for an oil change 2012 Focus 5 Door SE Airbox Mod, 13% tinted windows, tinted taillights. |
