"""i called ford motor company and they said that the code may be on the computer but where is it located ?.....on the ecu front, back ? """

On the computer means connecting a Ford diagnostic computer up to the car and reading the memory contents.

But to tell the truth I have not heard of the actual physical key code [cuts on the key] being stored there

For somebody in a huge city like Chicago there ARE locksmiths with a device to connect to the ECU to reconfigure the electronic key codes. A regular locksmith can figure out the key code from a cylinder

For the OP, I would call around the various Ford dealerships and see if you get a different answer

Be prepared to show insurance/ title and your ID

You're probably going to have to bring it, physicaly, to a Ford dealership and have them look at it.

They are probably making up a story that they can't do it because you don't have the car with you.

Chryco dealers got in a LOT of trouble in the past - you used to be able to walk into a Chrysler dealer, tell them a VIN and they would run off a key for you!
