leds in trunk

anyone have any ideas. how to replace that ugly halogen in the trunk cargo area.. I want some nice ambient light for my box/subs.. i cant stand how dim and amber it is now.

some said its a 2825 light but idk how to pull the bulb loose to check without burning my hand grr.

It's a 194 incandescent; and I replaced mine with a flank SMD LED 194 bulb and it lights up the whole hatch. Pop the trunk and quickly take it out before it gets too hot, lol.

Twist the socket and that will detach it from the lens and pull the bulb out. There's also a release tab on the back of the lens if you need to pull that out first.

You could also cut the wires off the back of the trunk light and wire in led strips! All the LED's are wired into the OEM light

what pyro did is also what I did, just cut the wires and wired in 4 SMD 5050 leds from oznium. works well, nice and bright easy to do too

LED strips can be had on ebay for around $10 and in any color. I just wanted to be able to see all my junk at night

Pyroinsa stole my thunder, I did mine the same way. and as far as taking the bulb out before it gets too hot, I dropped the back seats and crawled in from the cabin so that the light wouldn't turn on. as for the strips, I just went to autozone and grabbed two blue LED strips and wired them into the old wiring, now when I shut my trunk, the LED's shut off as well, no extra wiring involved. It took me maybe 20 minutes all said and done.
