2012 Focus: Suddenly cannot connect iPhone via Bluetooth (display says: MUTE)

Hi all,

I have (or had) my iPhone 5 hooked up to my 2012 Focus and it's been running flawless since i bought the phone.

BUT since a couple of days ago the phone does not connect to the car :(

When I push the "phone" button on the dashboard it just says "Mute" (see picture below)

As you might tell from the picture it is not a MFT system.

I've tried to remove the "Ford Audio" from my bluetooth connections on my phone. I've completely turned off my phone, put it in airplane mode, powered off the radio, turned it all back on again - but to no avail...

Anybody knows how to fix this!?

Maybe somebody knows how to reset the bluetooth unit? (it's a original factory installed Ford bluetooth unit)

I've never had that happen. You could go into Bluetooth connections and delete then try again

This is a stupid suggestion, but are you sure that when your phone is paired & connected to the car, that you're phone's volume isn't muted?

It's a wild stab, but iOS remembers the volume settings for headphones, phone speakers, and even headphones without mic's. Maybe you unwittingly muted the phone while you were connected in BT.

Well I tried deleting the "Ford Audio" from my Bluetooth devices on my phone. Now when I try to search for Bluetooth devices the "Ford Audio" doesn't show up

Okay, I took it to my local Ford deal, who had never seen this before.

I unplugged the fuses for the Bluetooth/audio system (2 or 3 pcs.), and plugged them in again.
Now it's all working like a charm :)
