HO Alternator, AGM Battery for 2010 2.0L

Well, putting in a stereo system and just looking for what's out there, probably won't ever need an HO alt as the most power I would run would be ~1800 watts, but probably <1000, just looking in case I step from my 500 watt amp to a 1200 watt. Probably only need a 200-220 amp alt at best. It's a 2010 Focus SES 4dr if that matters at all. I can't seem to find any great aftermarket batteries, no Diehard plat or direct fitting XS Power or the like, so I am wondering what people have used and what will fit that is good. Thanks.

To figure out how much of an alternator you need there is a little math to do.

Watts equals amps times voltage, so to figure out how many amps you will be using (how alternators are rated) divide your 1800 watts (not likely you will be at full power/full volume but just in case you don't need your hearing) by the 12 volts you have in your system. That works out to 150 amps. I don't know what your stock alternator is rated at but I believe they are usually around 120. You may want to look into this.

I forgot to mention, as for aftermarket batteries, hard to be an Interstate Megatron. There was one in my 1993 F-150 that I got in 2003. I don't know how long it was in there but 8 years later it was still going strong, even in cold Ohio winters. I figure that thing was 10 years old. The hydraulic slave cylinder for the clutch went out and it was parked for 2 years, so I am sure it isn't any good now, but a battery that lasts 10 years is tops in my book.

Are your amps Class D or, Class A/B?

This question really will be better posed in the Electronics and section FWIW

Moved to the "Car Audio" section for looks from those who've done upgrades for amps.

OK, I'll probably go with the Shuriken BT60 at some point.

Are you sure the BT60 fits? It seems a fair amount bigger than stock? If so I will go with the BT60, otherwise I will do the D1200.
