The grinding sound has begun

Didn't want to be the guy who makes yet another DCT thread but here I am...

12 SEL with 46,000 miles. The DCT has started to make the dreaded grinding sound.
It happens in 2nd to 3rd gear, after the car has been sitting overnight or longer than 6-8 hours. And there is quite a bit of shudder and thud when it up shifts.

I took it to the dealer and they said yes, there is a problem. Luckily it will be covered under the power train warranty. Unfortunately it will be a huge hassle and their transmission specialist is so backed up they can't even start work until april 15th. I will be calling around to other nearby Ford dealerships tomorrow to see about getting in in sooner.

Just really disappointed at this point, especially when I start to think about the list of problems this car has had since I bought it a little over a year ago.
-foam material in back needed replace
-right fog light blinked on and off
-interior headliner rattles
-both keys stopped working one day..just randomly. Had to pay 35 to get them re-programmed
-firmware update needed for trip computer
-dome light on passenger side randomly turns on, door is not opened. You have to open then close the door to turn it off
-and now the DCT

And the problems that were not ford's fault..like getting my door dented by an idiot driver in a parking lot...and most of the front end and hood needing to be replaced when I swerved into a mailbox avoiding a dog in the road.

I think my car may be cursed lol. Sucks because I want to love this thing so bad. It's starting to feel like a psycho girlfriend at this point. I may have to leave her soon.

Hey Jeffero28,

I'd like to connect you with your regional customer service manager. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, and preferred servicing dealership.

When was the last transmission firmware update performed on your car?

If you don't have the newest firmware, don't be disappointed that the transmission is not 100%.

I don't know. All I know is ford says there is a problem with the transmission. Hopefully a firmware update is all it takes to solve the problem. I will be sending a PM to Todd after I figure out which dealership I want to take it to.

I have had grinding since 50 miles struck the odometer, I had the firmware updated with no improvement. Multiple trips to 3 different dealers to no avail. Ford says this plus loss of response in launch or between gear changes is typical DCT behavior. Mine does more than grinding some of which I believe makes it dangerous to drive.

Good luck, I hope you can get it resolved.
