HOW TO: LED Reflectors

This is a pretty easy install, but I know some people still have questions, so I thought I would just make a thread with some of the pictures I took.

First you are going to have to remove the stock reflectors, sorry for the bad pic but if you look under the reader valance you will see the little prongs from the stock reflectors.

You have to squeeze those little clip things while trying to push or pull out the reflector. This was the biggest pain of the whole install. I ended up breaking off two of the posts.

Once you get those out, you need to drill a small hole for the wires.

You then need to remove your tail light and disconnect the tail light harness, just so you are not working with live wires. On my sedan you can pull back the carpet and you will see the connector to disconnect.

Note, I have a resistor wired in there you can see in the pic, but those are for my LED turn signal bulbs and are not needed for these reflectors.

I then used a coat hanger to fish the wires up through the space between the bumper and car.

Just tape your wires to the cost hanger and pull up. I just tapped into the wires then right there. Just follow the instructions for your set of reflectors to determine which wire is what.

Put everything back together and that's it!

The kit i ordered has 3 wires. Black (ground) Red (50% tail light) Yellow (100% brake light).
On the brake light, the middle black is ground, the beige is 100% brake light. On the tail light, the yellow is 50% tail light. I just used vampire taps for these.

This is where I ordered mine:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400609606783...84.m1497.l2649

Singapore, but they came in just over a week.

For the hatches, to get the tail lights off, there is an upper cover that you pull of to get one of the plastic nuts off (large flat head) and above the carpet is the 2nd large plastic nut. Gently pull the light so the studs clear the hole and then wiggle your finger through the tail light to pop the stud out of the body of the hatch.

Remember to have a buddy so you can test everything before reassembling the tail lights and reflectors.

I can see you guys "just tapped into the wires then right there. Just follow the instructions.."
So, can I just tapped my foglights to my headlights? Or that's a bad idea

They should be exactly the same.

However, someone else and I was talking about how someone should do a center rear fog in that blank spot of the rear valence.

These LEDs don't run much power. Foglights do and will give you a bulb out error.

Can they be wired for 50% only and not braking?
