I've asked and I've been told mine has no wind noise but when I'm going above 70-75mph they say I sound a bit far away (probably noise cancelling trying to cut away wind noise) But otherwise I'm ok I just have to speak up

When I had 2.11 people didn't even know I was calling from my car. Once I installed 3.0.2 I suddenly had the wind tunnel and hands-free calls became useless. After 3.0.2 I couldn't play music by voice either. It would give me list after list to choose from, none of those being the song title I said. All of the songs in these lists started with very "soft" sounds, as in it was picking up droning background noise while I spoke. The first time my wife witnessed me trying to play a song by voice after 3.0.2 was installed her exact quote was "Wow, they completely broke your car".

With 3.5.1 the wind tunnel disappeared and people can at least hear me during calls but immediately know I am calling from my car, as opposed to 2.11 when it took them a while to figure out. Voice commands for music are better for me with 3.5.1 as well but still nowhere near as good as they were with 2.11. I still get lists the majority of the time but now more often than not the song title I said is at least on the first page of choices, as opposed to list after list of trying to get there with 3.0.2.

So, for me at least:

2.11 - voice commands for music worked great (well over 95% success rate) and people didn't know I was calling from my car. Indicates to me great noise cancellation when I was speaking.

3.0.2 - completely broken voice commands for music, the appearance of the wind tunnel, and hands-free calling was completely unusable. Same phone (iPhone 4), same carrier (AT&T), and same music source (120gb iPod classic w/same song library) as I had with 2.11. Indicates to me absolutely no noise cancellation when I was speaking.

3.5.1 - music voice commands are better but I still more often than not get lists, difference being the song I said is usually on the first page of choices. No more wind tunnel and people can, with a little effort, understand me on hands-free but instantly know I am calling from the car. Indicates to me better noise cancellation than with 3.0.2 but still not as good as it was with 2.11.

Music source, phone, carrier, and car mic remained the same. The only variable involved with voice commands for music and hands-free calling going from three stages of -great/unusable/functional but not perfect- is three different versions of MFT.

Mine is clear as a bell according to people I've spoken to while on the phone. Knock on wood.

I stuffed a bunch of rags in the headliner above the mic and left a message on my answering machine, a little bit of background noise but still easy to understand. Big improvement, I'm calling it done.

Cope... You are correct. I really thought the new mic may have made some improvements and for sure the other phone. Without a doubt the latest 3.5.1 has made a world of difference and I think just goes to show you a lot can be tweaked on that side.
The last test I did. I sat in my usual leaned back gangsta seat position. lol. And then I leaned forward and spoke much closer to the mic and when I played it back. Being closer to the mic was near handset quality. This was at 70mph. Now that I have that spare mic. I was thinking I might attempt to lengthen the harness and relocate the mic closer to me and see if I can get any further improvements. But yeah 3.5.1 has definitely resolved the wind tunnel we suffered with and there just didn't seem anything we could do to improve that mess so I'm glad they came through for us there.

So that made a difference? I wanted to play around with this myself but want to get someone else to drive so I can speak from various places in the cabin without being a distracted driver.

I took a day off recently to do some X-mas shopping and called my wife at her workplace while I was driving home. A call to a landline but the call goes through a main number and then gets transferred to an extension. She didn't complain about background noise but said she could barely hear me and it sounded very "metallic". I played around with raising and lowering the volume during the call but that didn't seem to make a difference in her ability to hear any better, just changed the volume of her voice in my car (which is pretty much what I expected to happen but I tried just for the hell of it).

Hey I wanted to share with you a little mod I did today. I relocated the mic closer to me and it's has made a 1000x improvement. Like sounds better than my Jabra!.

I removed the tiny mic out of the plastic holder and extended the wire over to just the left of my head. Probably a bit out in front of me and WOW. So much better!. I had a conversation with my wife and she didn't even notice on was using it. LOL







I don't think anyone would really even notice the little black button over by me unless they were looking for it.
