intermittent weak starting

Hey everyone this is my first post any help would be appreciated. I'm having starting issues. I went to start up my 2010 se yesterday & it rolled the engine over very slowly & barely started. I've noticed lately it was not starting with the same pep it used to but never like this. So I stopped & got a new battery an my way home yesterday but didn't install it. Tried starting it this morning & it started just fine. I'm just trying to figure out what the problem is before putting in a battery that it doesn't need. Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this. The car has 39,000 miles on it if that helps. Thanks for any help.

Before installing or buying a battery you might not need, did you try "load testing" the current battery?

I would also clean the terminals and inspect the cables before committing to a new battery.

The guys where I bought the new battery told me to bring the old battery back today & they'd test it for me. I got to them right at closing last night or I'd have done it yesterday. I was just wondering if there might be a specific problem to look out for or if anyone else has had a problem like this. I've had a bad connection or corrosion cause a no start before but never a weak start like this?
