Parking Aid Malfunction

So yesterday, when I get in my car at work and try to drive home, the car would not turn over at all. Just the warning in-between the gauges saying Parking Aid Malfunction Service Required. I came across this story below on another thread, and the details of his story are pretty much identical. It is at the dealership now, I just hope it turns out to be the same thing as this one that was covered under the powertrain warranty.

The BOLD parts of this story are the things that I am dealing with. It is crazy that my 2012 SEL, with 41K miles is having the same problem that his 2012 SEL with 40K miles had.

ORIGINAL POST I FOUND:

This just happened to me the other day. Stranded while picking up my son from school. "Parking Aid Malfunction Service Required" wouldn't start or turn over (only equipped with rear parking aid). Lights and all accessories worked. I thought I may have run out of gas as I was super low and near a station. Maybe just a phantom code. No dice.
Had to get towed to a dealership.
Was a new scenario for them. Multiple codes were found: B-11DB-83, B-1D13 11, P0850, U1013. Paraphrasing his notes, but all codes lead to no communication with TCM (transmission control module).
After several tests concluded he had to replace TCM luckily covered under power train warranty. I also needed to replace battery but I believe that was unrelated but who knows.

Hope this helps others with similar issue. TCM was bad which is weird for a car this old. But at this point nothing surprises me with this car .

2012 SEL, 40K miles

Wow, thats a bummer. I for sure don't need or want a car that parks itself.

This doesn't park itself, it only has rear warning sensors

So the sensors have issues or don't work & that makes the car not start?

Sounds more like the tcm is killing the communications buss and the rear park aid malfunction on the dash is just a side effect of the buss issue

Picking car up today

Turns out my initial thoughts were correct, and the problem was the exact same as the other I found on here. It was the TCM.

They ordered a new one for me on Thursday, and it showed up this morning. Once it was in hand it took them minutes to get the car working right. So my question to them would be why didnt you order it Thursday and do overnight shipping maybe and get my car back to me Friday?

Instead they let me choose a rental car, covered of course, so I am not complaining too much. I got to drive something different for 5 days, which can be fun. But in this case.....I dont want to give them the rental back. I would rather them keep the Focus.

They gave me a 2014 F-150 Crew Cab. Talk about room, my god the thing is huge inside. I am 6 foot tall, and when I have the drivers seat in the right position, I can sit comfortably in the back seat and still have 8-10" in front of my knees. My 2 year old loved climbing around in too. She keeps saying "i love your new truck".......and its going to be interesting when I pick her up today in the little ole focus.

Either way I am glad to get my car back so I dont have to be concerned with a rental. But it has been fun!
