mustang V6?
just wondering but would it be possible to do a mustand v6 and rwd conversion to the focus?...no intention on doing this(yet) but if i ever get the money i would love to do it...things i would relay like to know.
1. would wiring be a big issue? 2.what year mustang would be best? 3.would it fit? 4. is it a wast of time and i shouldn't even have thought abut doing it? any other input would be great. thanks, Nick |

I would think that you could do this with the Kugel Komponents V8 kit, with the exception of the motor mounts and/or the oil pan. I don't know for sure and would love to know.
especially the newer 4.0L V6... I just read an article on the supercharger they make for it and like the idea of bolt on 300rwhp.

I've never heard of anyone trying this, let alone actually doing it. What makes the Focus handle like it does is, in fact, the front wheel drive. To my knowledge there is no way to install a rear-wheel driveshaft on a Focus. The entire car would have to be redesigned.
On a side note, once I learned that the new 6-speed automatic transmissions in the Mustang were being made in China, that got me to rethink about getting a new Mustang or any rear wheel drive car for that matter. Unless I can find one where the transmission is made in France or Germany like they used to be. Sometimes change ain't good.

There is really no point to doing a v6 conversion. Depending on the year and version of the v6, the i4s in the Focus can match the power with less cost and labor. Only in the last few years did Fords v6s start making real power, 200+hp.

And you'd be hard pressed, no matter where the tranny is built, not to find some foreign (chinese, korean, etc) parts in it. Whens the last time you opened the hood on a car? sheesh! parts from all over the place. And since it seems everyone has the internet but is too lazy to look... 2011 on up v6 mustang is 305hp/280tq. a 2010 v8 4.6 gt mustang was 315hp... And why the hell did someone resurrect a thread from 08???????????????????????????????
