Rain Light?

What is the Rain Light in the car information controls? I have it on and I figured when the wipers were on the lights would turn on because of rain/light laws. But it does not seem to do that.

Also, what does the O with the / through it next to the MPG screen mean?

The symbol means "empty set" when inside braces, but in this case, it means "average".

You are right about the rain lamp option, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet. The only time I've been in a rain storm since I've had the car, it was so dark from the storm clouds that the lights came on anyway.

I'd be curious if anyone else would chime in on the Rain Light. Driving home yesterday the automatic light turned off since it brightened up but was still raining and automatic wipers were going but the dash indicated the headlights were off, so I had to switch them to manual per FL law.

I have found that the rain light function barely works. If I put the wipers on high speed the lights seem to turn on after the 7th wipe. If you use the auto wipers though, you'll notice that they nearly never come on full for that long.
I drove through flooding rain and the lights never came on.

My experience is that the rain lamps have a several second delay once you flip to LO or HI, but they should say on as long as you're in Autolamp mode, and until you flip down to OFF. However, I've had issues with the rain lamps not triggering when I'm in rain sensing mode, which is really pesky. I have switched from LO to rain sensing and the rain lights did stick on in rain sensing, but after a period of rain not being sensed and rain started up again, rain sensing mode never flicked on the headlamps.

I don't know if anyone who just has the standard intermittent wipers (SE, non premium package SEL/Titaniums) have this same problem.

Its been raining in West Palm Beach for what seems like days. My rain lights never come on even with it raining cats and dogs.

Rain lights come on in the low and high modes and may stay if you switch to auto mode if the rain in consistent.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would not want my headlights to flash on and off every time the auto wipers decided it was time to wipe.

Yeah; I don't understand how they programmed it. On my Jetta it was pretty simple; if the wipers made 3 continuous cycles, the lights came on for 20 minutes. The timer reset itself after every 3 complete cycles.

I'm in Boca so yah, every day home I had to turn lights on manual in rain.
