basicly SCT jumped on to say wahh wahh wahh, stop asking us its hard. If you wanted tuner support buy a real car. If you look at Tuners say for VW they race each other to crack the Ecu's even for the NA engines. I think my focus will stay stock and I'll get a miata or fiesta st down the road.

The justification was used that tuning isn't provided for grocery getters like the NA Focus, of which most drivers are middle aged women.

Yet, many grocery getters that are driven by middle aged women get tuning.

Circular arguement for the circular file.

I or we did not use any grocery getter or middle aged woman reference.

The vehicles mentioned above share a LOT in terms of processor type and calibration values. The focus is not in that group as it uses an entirely different processor (which is only in the Focus.)

I know it wasn't you. The inference was made that if it was a grocery getter driven by a woman, no tuning would be required.

I understand that the ECU in the 2012+ Focus is unique.

My guess would be they used a similar ECU and didn't take a lot of effort to come up with a solution. Or it was a relatively dry time when nothing breaking was coming out.

.... seriously. Please stop trying to distort my words and turn them into some discriminatory statement. Honestly, one of the most ridiculous statements I've read on a forum in quite some time.

However, if you want to travel down that path we can. If you're an automotive company planning to offering support to a platform. I promise you, perusing a vehicle whose owners primarily consist of mid-aged women will not be a prosperous venture for you. There is nothing 'sexist/ageist' about that. It's just reality.

Please troll else where.

Hank, I'm not trolling one bit... I started this thread and am a Mod on this website... I have every right to say my piece.

But no need to digress...

Back to the topic at hand

In all fairness, you were the first one to mention the sexist/ageist comment, but it did get dragged out further than the point was intended. I think we all should probably just drop that overall portion and understand that this Focus isn't geared toward the performance section of the market. Further inflaming the conversation distracts from the overall premise of the thread.

That being said, even single digit percent sales on the overall production run of Mk3's is a significant number. Someone else can pull actual stats I'd they want, I just don't have the time.

The overall point is that SCT had been asked numerous times and they always say that it's being worked or going to happen...and everyone just keeps waiting. Business decision or not, if they intend on not supporting the Mk3 then it just needs to be said. You can't lose customers that you don't intend on supporting to start with.

Ultimately, let's all try to just keep this thread relatively on track...

Really both of those subjects are irrelevant to my point. You don't need to be a mod to be afforded the right to say your peace. What I don't appreciate is you contorting my thoughts and labeling them a discriminatory statements.

From reading through this thread, it's apparent that a great deal of people don't really understand the tuning process at all. The difference between the capabilities of the tuner and the necessity of the software company.

I also feel there is a general disrespect for the complexity of modern ECU's. Especially those with direct injection and variable valve timing.

You've pleaded your case to SCT, but threatening to spam their facebook page or website doesn't change our demographics or their projected sales numbers. Do you honestly think that they will invest into a losing market just because a few forum members berating them to do so?

I guess I just don't understand the logic behind this.

The phrase sexiest/ageist comment was made by sonic in response to my observation that 90% of the people I see driving this car are middle-aged women. I think that's a pretty far stretch.
