Its so depressing logging on to this performance section and seeing the only mods we have are an air box, exhaust and high octane gas. I dont understand why the aftermarket industry wont support the na focus...its so sad.
Rant over

After the 1st gens it seems the aftermarket largely ignored the Focus and it looks like it's continuing even tho' this platform is ripe for upgrades. Unfortunatly the ST took away some of the focus(ha) off the NA Focus. We're not alone as the upgrades for non-turbo Subis,Mazdas and others are finding the aftermarket a bit sparse.

A tune would be huge as a lot of us are finding the factory tune to be pretty sub par. I myself find hiccups at idle one in a while and surging from time to time under a load.

I wonder if we bombarded SCT with Email requests for the tuner if they would realize there is a market. 100 emails would go a long way to convincing them.

They have probably in all seriousness recieved well over 100 emails and atleast 500+ requests already. Just spoke with them today and when I brought it up they were quick to say that they realize people want it but the DCT is a bottleneck for them.

If you ask me I feel like Ford is also somewhat behind this because what would you do if you were a brand new owner of an ST and a base model focus with bolt ons and lets say a 50 shot smokes you. Someone is going back to ford going "I thought this was the performance model"

SCREW the DCT (*sorry DCT owners) and produce a reflash for us MTX-75 owners already!

Yeah well I'm going to go build my own tune, with blackjack and hookers, in fact forget the black jack. Eh screw the whole thing.

YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I don't know if they think the hold up is they want to tune the TCM portions of the code also, or if they think there is something with the torque limitations that are preventing them from working with it.

The MTX-75 equipped Foci in the MK3 is nearly as niche a product as the ST given they said they produced something like 9 DCTs for every single MTX-75.

If they just wanted to tune the engine they probably could have by now many times over.

They just love to play games and stir the pot.

SCT has no defined timeline to production with any tune for the NA MK3 yet tuned the ST within a month of launch, that says something doesn't it?

They don't give a care in the world about us or the money they are losing out on.

They said there was no market so they weren't interested and keep stringing us along by saying oh we had a car or two in the dyno, etc....

Since I haven't purchased a product from SCT---because they don't want to make one for our car--I will, in every case in which I can turn a fellow enthusiast to another company (say, COBB, APR, what have you) for a compatible service...I will.

Every impression I get is that they are either toying with us, or want to ignore the NA Focus community until the 'problem goes away'. And the argument that we aren't a priority because our cars are 'grocery getters with higher aspirations' is just silly. Virtually everyone I know with a 'tuner car' owns a slightly-nicer-than average econobox. The very first thing I'd have done for my Focus is buy a flasher for it. Instead, I bought other parts for it, because said flasher is vaporware. I'm disappointed.

I feel like we need to just bug them more to be honest. They will eventually think there is a market.

I'm also one of the MK3 that is hoping that SCT will get off their rears and provide us with a tuner. I live reasonably close to Tom, who is in NC, and I would trust my MK3 to him for the tune, I just need SCT to step in a produce.

I should have my AEM CAI here in the next few days, and I will start building my custom 2.5'' exhaust soon enough, but I want to wait for a tune before I get a set of headers from FSWerks.

As it has been said before, I believe that our cars with standard bolt-ons could benefit greatly from a tune. Oh and I have a "rare" 5 spd so I won't have to worry about the DCT technobabble.

Tom, have you heard anything further from SCT?
