It's not plug and play. It's not even a matter of using stock wiring for factory sensors. it's much more involved than that.

Then there is the fact that very very very few aftermarket ECU's will run factory options like the cruise properly. Or the radio and SYNC. Or any of the other creature comforts.
You missed where I said I have a stand alone in a street car, didn't you? In a new car, the ECU doesn't control things like the radio. As long as the CANmessages get to the device they need to, you should be good.

Also, I never said they were plug and play.

CAN may be neat, and it really is, but it's not something you can rely on the way (I'm thinking) you're thinking. It's not a matter of plug things in and a little tuning and bingo-bango it's working. It's much more complicated than that. There are priority levels, unique sensor ID's, bandwidth limitations and time limits, etc. etc. All of which you'll be guessing at since you don't have the factory .bin to make a base map from.
I don't agree with the over kill again, street car with one and know many other people with far more advanced standalones in their street cars.

So the Talon has what, AEM, Link, MegaSquirt?
All of which are archaic vs most any factory PCM 96+.

The things you assume can be done with aftermarket would require being in piggyback form. They can not work as factory in standalone form.

The Talon is stock and, not the car I was talking about.

Wow, 17 pages now on this thread? I see it's already gotten a bit ugly, but it looks like it might be getting even worse.

Regardless, not everyone can afford an ST, but it would be nice to have some tuning option available for the n/a Focus. Again, I say it's just a matter of time. When exactly? I have no idea on that.

Ugly? I don't see it - just good discussion on what's available, what isn't, and why not. Good discussion as far as I can see. I've never given much thought to tunes - I'm learning a bit here.

I posted on SCT's Facebook wall. Asked everyone to like it if they want tuning options.
Be a good way to see how many people are interested.

So quit being vague and avoiding. What car are you talking about? What ECU is it using?

IMHO, Facebook is not a good measure of anything, ever.

From SCT's Facebook 8 Minutes ago:

Are you working on a tuner for the 2012 and up 2.0 N/A Ford Focus?

This seems to be a common question recently and we are up late working on some stuff, so figured we would address the question while watching the Chopper Build Off.

Without going into a huge long post about how our vehicle development program works, we have looked at the 2012+ NA Focus. There was even one in the dyno room a few months ago.

In order to add a new vehicle, there is a lot more to it than simply having a car to test with. The behind the scenes info and work required would make your head spin and leave you wondering how we release 100's of vehicles per year like we do.

For the 2012+ NA Focus, the stars didn't align and we didn't have what was needed to add support for it quickly (unlike the ST) when we looked at it. It could be as simple as too many different PCM codes for just that model, or as complicated as we couldn't easily talk to the vehicle's PCM. Either way, we looked, took notes and it was added to a list our staff works from to add new vehicle support.

As of right now, there is no release date for tuning for these vehicles. That being said, that could change tomorrow. Our engineers are CONSTANTLY adding new vehicle support, daily.

1) Do we want to support this vehicle? Of course!

2) Do we want to sell you a programmer for your 2012+ Focus, hell yes!

3) Do you want to know how to speed up the process?

Easy.

1) Call your local SCT dealer and express you are interested in buying an SCT device as soon as the 2012+ Focus NA is supported. Make sure you tell them which SCT device you would like to see it released on. They will likely want to know your PCM strategy code, so see if you can get it before you call. SCT dealers talk to our staff all the time. The more dealers that request support, the better chance it will get moved up the list and supported faster.

Need to find your local SCT dealer? Easy, visit our website, click on Find a Dealer and enter your zip code.
