I'd put money that our ti_vct cars are a maf/map style, where we use the maf up to a certain rpm then switch to a map sensor. I had this on my old car with vct.

If you are so set on tuning the car, you haven't tried very hard. There have been options for tuning before the car came out.

If this is a life mission for you, spend the change and get a real means of engine management. Not a soft mail order tune. Yes, you will spend more than $400 for the system and probably another $800 to have the car tuned and, who knows what for the install. Point is, SCT is NOT the only source for tuning capabilities for a DI car. Hell, Cobb even turned to Pectel for their turbo car.

Also, that is not a good judgement for if a company should release a product... How many Hondas have an intake and exhaust yet, never see another part in their life? Every 16 year old with a new car can afford an intake and exhaust, making it the two most common things added to a car out side of stickers and subwoofers.

Stand alones are an option but you lose a lot with their use. If you are making a dedicated race car it would be a different story. But for a street driven focus it is over kill.

You would need to talk to the manufacture of the system but, you shouldn't loose a single thing by going to a standalone. At least, not with a modern CANBUS system.

I wouldn't say a standalone is overkill for a street car...Its all about how much control you want over the systems. I have a standalone in my car and, its just a street car with all the amenities it came with from the factory. I didn't loose a single thing with it.

I think too many people are confused by the needs and wants of the people asking for a tune... Most of us don't want a canned over the shelf tune... We want the ability to tune. Without SCT doing the initial work and providing the ability and tools, tuners and their networks can't do anything for us.

Don't agree with this statement at all; a canned 93 octane tune that takes into account an intake/cat back exhaust is all most people would need; I can't see people that bought a Foucs willing to shell out approx $350 for the Xcal, $350 for someone to custom tune the car and then approx $100 for 2 hours of dyno time....if you really think approx $800 is worth it for at the most 20 hp you are from a different planet and need to go back home.

We want a tuning solution people... One that is not stand alone, yet has the ability to grow. If someone wants a canned tune let them have it, if someone wants to dyno tune and extract an extra 5 or 10 horses above a canned tune then let them spend their money... The whole point is no one is giving us the TOOLS to tune our cars without having to go stand alone. All I want is to be able to build my car as I see fit, that's all anyone wants right...?

We also want the ability to grow, who says we will stop at an intake and exhaust system? What if I add a header or cams down the road I need the ability to TUNE those as well. Also not everything is a canned tune, we can have remote tuning down. We the log it and the tuner sends us a new tune file to flash.
