2012 Cargo Area in Hatchback

So OK ... Salesman didn't have a hint on how to set this up. other than to say the seats don't go all the way down flat. duh.... It looks like they do.



and for a hint on the space, only thing i had handy was standard trash barrel. of which 3 would fit easily. two lengthwize and one sideways.



BUT LET ME TELL YOU:
1. getting the three headrests out the first time is not easy as they ship them all the way down. and they don't explain that the release latch is only on the driver side of the headrest. [they don't show you what the release latch looks like, but then you can't see it anyway.]
2. you need to get these headrests out 1st as you probably will store the head rests under the front seats, which are hard to access once the back seats are pulled up into position.
3. you have to explore how to pull up the seats ... there seems to be a handhold between them at the back of the seat. [I am not sure all the hatchs have the 60 40 back seat]
4. you have to remember to unlatch the back seat belts as they come latched for the delivery.

Other than that ... this is something that requires a little practice. If you normally don't carrry more than two people, it probably makes sense to just not have the headrests in the seats. and maybe leave the middle one home as with the tray that sits behind the back seats.

I take that your focus is either SE trim or SEL trim without SONY sound package? Can you take a picture of transition area where back seats (when folded flat) meet the trunk floor? I want to know if there is a gap in terms of height. Thanks!

Oh, excuse me for my silly trim question, you are driving a 2012 SEL, from words right underneath your avatar. Do you have the SONY sound package?

Here's a tip if you are picking up a new one ... get them to set it up with the full cargo area before you leave the dealer. Tell them you've got to pick up a bale of hay on the way home.

I was pleasantly surprised that my salesman at Ford had the seats folded down for me to demonstrate the set up and how to return the seats to normal. Very cool set up for increased hauling.

Posted via FF Mobile Lol I was showing people at the autoshow that you can do this. I didnt remove the headrests because I wasnt going to tear apart the show car, but plenty of people were pleasntly surprised. Also had to show my parents anyway.

Awesome, thanks for posting this! I just bought mine yesterday and obviously knew the seats folded down but didn't know the seat bottoms also folded up. Salesman didn't mention it either. It'll come in handy for sure. :)

Thanks for those pics. It is perfect to illustrate the room the hatch has. If anyone has looked at the sedan trunk, it seems you need to crawl up in the trunk to load anything!!

Noticed last night there are two interior lights just under where the cargo shelf hinges for the cargo area.

But I really want the wagon when they decide to build it here. to be same candy Red SEL.
