Noob wants to get a Dual Exaust

I've been wanting to do an exaust with my focus since I got it, I Haven't done any mods other than cosmetic since this is my first car and I have no clue what I'm doing! I've seen a couple threads of how people installed their dual exhausts.

What do you think the best way for me to do it is, should DIY or should i buy the parts and bring them to a shop?

Thanks!

try an independent repair shop too... they might get you a good deal on it.

This is my favorite dual-tip exhaust thread, in case you hadn't seen it yet:

I'm in the same boat man - first ever brand new car - and I will go through a shop. Agree with TboneZX3 Sleighman's is what I'm going for.

Personally want to do a Quad exhaust system with slightly offset tips as I feel it looks cleaner.

Something like this.

Waiting for a rear bumper that can accommodate this without looking half-ass. Will be doing this in the spring or next summer, custom hopefully as I really want to keep it as quiet as possible.

Take it to a local exhaust shop, and tell them what you want and most are happy to help you do something fun.

My vote would be to get a 2" inlet longitudinal muffler and dual outlets...

I'd say kill the front muffler and middle resonator, install only single in/dual outs muffler at back. Would keep sound up. My custom set up is loud at WOT but calms at cruise.

I really can't imagine doing any exhaust setup with out first investing in a new rear diffusor first. Exhausts look really strange hanging below an unmodified rear diffusor.... and they look like crap when people cut them. If you're going to take pride in your exhaust... go the extra mile and do it right.
