Rough idle solutions?

Hi all,

I am a new owner of a 2013 Focus SE HB with 5sp manual and appearance package.

Overall, I've been very happy with my new little car, and I love the way it handles and rides.

BUT, like others, I've been experiencing a rough idle at the lowest RPM's (looks on Tach like about 600rpm or so). This is mainly when I have AC off, and my foot is on the brake pedal (activating brake booster which lowers idle further).

Car only has about 1650 miles so far.

I searched, and found some older posts from last summer, of owners basically attributing this to the direct injection engine, and stating that it's "normal" and related to the lean running design.

But I was wondering since then, if anyone had come up with a solution? Anyone?

I find it a bit annoying, to have a brand new car, that handles like a european sport sedan, but vibrates at stop lights due to this :)

I was wondering if there was a way to hook into the ODB connector and 'reprogram' the idle speed to be just maybe 20-40 rpm faster? It feels as if it just needs a bit more.

Anyone's input appreciated...this is one of my few pet peeves about my new ride...and I'd love to solve it.

Oh, and thanks to the people who started these forums!

Thanks,
Matt

Injected makes a wonderful tuner that gets rid of it almost completely! It also just makes the car run a lot smoother and stronger in general!

Thanks for the info. I've been eyeing the tuner kit, but I didn't want to mess with my engine during the break-in period. I'm also wondering if their tuner is compatible with the PZEV version of the engine...since I'm in CA. Don't want to mess up the emissions.

Quality gas, break-in and synthetic oil. By 8K miles mine smoothed out considerably.

Yea, the Cobb rmm is probably one of the stiffer ones on the market but also one of the nicest. Btw, you should have warned me about the Mt. Everest speed bump on the way out! Wowzers, I think it took three tries to get over that beast.
