Timing belt replacement cost

I cannot find any info on the previous owner of my SVT or whether the timing belt has been replaced. I have 144K and an thinking better safe than sorry. I am not burning oil and have absolutely no other issues except the stupid O2 sensor going bad every few months.

I am wondering what I can expect to pay to have the timing belt replaced both high and low range. Can anyone give me some info on your experiences and perhaps reccomend a shop either here in the Dallas- Fort Worth area or the Killeen area where I am stationed in the Army?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

300 parts in labor sounds reasonable to me and I wouldn't go higher than that. Though I've heard of people paying up to 600 which is unreasonable and sky high IMO. You can get a Gates T-belt kit off of Rockauto for roughly 75 bucks or so. For 600 bucks I would consider for clutch change lol

That is the exact information I was looking for. Thank you Brother. My other car is a Saleen Mustang and I do most of the work myself and have a pretty good idea what the other stuff costs ( the stuff beyond my abilities), The SVT Focus has me a bit stumped as I have never played around with a DOHC engine. Thank you so much for the advice.

If you worked on Mustang your self you can surly do the t-belt your self. There are many how to's on here. Really it's not that hard I have done over half dozen easy, and I'm about to help another local member do his too. Even fixed botched up t-belt jobs. Just follow the directions and you can do it. Don't be scared just because it's a DOHC engine.

You really think so? I am a "half assed" mechanic from time to time and I have a nice shop where I keep my Saleen and all of my tools. Maybe I will try this over the Christmas leave I have coming up. Can you pm me your email and maybe phone number in case I get froggy and want to dive into this and need some advice?

HERE is the how to specifically for the SVT. It's basically the same has a normal Zetec t-belt job. Now there is a little controversy on whether to break the cam bolts loose to set the timing (step 26 in the link I posted). I've done it both ways and they both work. I would try it with out breaking them loose first. If you get a cam timing code then it means the Intake cam VCT moved a little. Just re time and and see what happens. Only time I ever got that code was when fixing a botched t-belt job. They didn't make sure the motor was at TDC, it was a pain fixing that SVT. Took 3 days of working on it and retiming and retiming. I ended up having to move the VCT a tooth then try it then another tooth till it didn't throw the code anymore. Just make sure and follow the instructions and you should be fine. Make sure you have the cam tools to do it too.
