Gauge cluster compatibility
So I've noticed being in many newer Ford vehicles that a lot of the gauge clusters look the same but with different faces. So what I'm wondering is would it be possible to get a gauge cluster from say a Taurus and have much nicer looking gauges ? Idk if anyone has ever tried this before but thought it would be worth a shot. Also Escape gauges are pretty much the exact same with differently styled gauge faces.

Well the faces themselves are just an overlay. You could technically swap them out with whatever you like. The size and fitment would be your biggest issue. If the numbers on the taurus speedometer aren't spaced the same as the numbers on your focus, you won't know how fast you're going.

They're all 7k RPM tachs and 120mph speedometers, if that makes a difference.

yes but the top speed or rpm is in a different location as far as how much spacing

The cluster can stay the same, the faces are removable.
Hell you could make your own gauge face if you wanted to out of vinyl and crayons.

Just be VERY careful if you're pulling your cluster apart. I had the bright idea to make my Shift Up light the "Focus" that is displayed in the Tach, and wound up bending the pins on the back of the gauge cluster which activated the PATS. That's a $700 mistake you don't want to make. TRUST me.

You don't have to disassemble the whole thing to change out the face.
But if you're wanting to switch with another car's face, chances are you will have to buy the entire cluster. Very expensive. IIRC.

No, but you have to pull it out the dash, and taking that plastic piece off isn't very easy either.

I haven't taken apart the dash of the focus yet but if its anything like the cluster in my mustang, its super easy to get it out and swap the faces.
