Yes, that is the bad lock cylinder. I thought it was offset towards the floor..... maybe it's not a Ford LC, but unless the key hole is in the center of the "coin"- I wouldn't chance it.

Order Ebay if you want. Sometimes it's worth it to pay dealer prices, and sometimes it's not. No matter which route you take, you must get the new lock cylinder keyed to your key by a locksmith before installing it. You do not want to install an aftermarket lock cylinder with a different key- it's so much easier/cheaper to use your existing key.

Thanks guys.....when i saw it i figured that was the case! The Ebay kit comes with instructions needed to key the new cyl to my existing keys...i always like going with OEM...but for 32 shipped, u may give the Ebay one a go.....unless the parts guys at the dealer can key the new one for me on the spot..it does not sound hard to do.....

We can give you instructions for how to replace a lock cylinder that is not locked up. It's easy as long as you can turn the key. All you do is remove the plastic covering the steering column, then turn the key back to the ACC position, and press a detent on the upper corner- 10 o'clock position- at the base of the lock cylinder. Use a small allen wrench or small screwdriver to press it in- and the cylinder will fall off.

The Ebay one Is supposed to come with total instructions....i just don't know how to key the OEM if i went that route, to my current key....the Ebay one is supposed to include instructions on how to key the cylinder too......

seems easy enough to physically change out the lock cyl though.

I also strongly believe this is the OEM lock cyl......my Grandpa bought this car new, and unless it was changed when he wrecked the car when it was 2 yrs old (heavy front end hit) then it's the factory original.

I just bought one from i believe the same seller off ebay. Was it out of New York? Anyway, the seller claimed the ford doesn't make 'new' ignition cylinders any more & they use this other company called starttec. This seller also keyed this ic to my sisters zts for no extra charge after i sent them hi-res photos of the key. Procedure took around 10 minutes, just make sure you have a small flat-head screw driver to fit in the little hole to release the ic. 1st time took me around 1/2 an hour, (bought a different set keyed to another car, wasn't thinking) 2nd time took me 10 minutes start to finish.

Yes, the ebay seller sells startec. It has to be the same person. He has a very good feedback rating. I'm going to give it a shot and just ask for the kit to key it myself. Can't be that hard with good instructions.

Be it made in China or not! I had my wife's 08' up on the lift for service last night and saw that what I believe was the AC condenser to have a FoMoCo tag on it that says "MADE IN CHINA"

I about threw up! I know we have a global economy, but geeze...Chinese JUNK....can't stand it! So if Ford is putting Chinese JUNK on OEM, why not aftermarket? Just different grades of Chinese Junk I guess? LOL!

Sorry for the rant!

I got my PVC hose changed out today.

I used the Ford revised hose with the heat shielding on it, it was $21 at the local dealer.

My hose didn't have any holes in it, but at the bend where it goes into the rear of the intake it felt "soft" As you can see from the pic, the hose is dry-cracked and could have been leaking (or partially sucking shut at that bend) and contributing to my part-throttle surging and sometimes low-idle. It was worth changing now, before I'm forced to do it on a 15 degree day this winter!

It also had some knicks and rub marks on it so it would have rubbed through soon also.

Thanks (Terry B) for the part # that is the one I purchased, and advise I recd in the Ztec chat forum and this thread!

I'm glad I saved you some time instead of searching around. I paid about the same through my local dealer. I didn't have any holes, but when I ran my engine the hose would completely collapse. I went through Amazon for my ignition cylinder. I think I paid about $57.00 for the Motorcraft part. I didn't even bother using the tumblers. Any key will fit, but without the PATS chip the car won't start. So I'm not concerned with a security issues. It also allows me to remove the key while the car is running.

Sounds, good thanks again Terry and others who posted and offered help.

To the one poster, I think it was the third post overall, the photo showing the two hoses is a comparison. The top hose is the OEM style, with the hard bend, (that usually gets a hole in it or sucks shut under engine vaccum load). The one with the heat shielding on it is the revised part, so if you already changed that you are good to go, you don't change both, it's the same hose for the same application, just a revision on the OEM style (and a good one too) the bend for the rear of the intake is not as harsh so I don't anticipate any issues with this new hose.
