SAP Rear Diffuser SVT Euro Reverse Light Mod

Just completed my euro reverse light mod for my SAP bumper. The reason I did this was due to my conversion to the 2007 SAP rear clip. The 2000 factory taillight harness includes 3 bulbs. 1 for turnsignals. 1 for brake lights. 1 for reverse. Since the 2007 harness included only 2 bulbs, I had to make some modifications. I used the reverse light area for my turnsignals w/ amber bulbs. I used the regular brake area for my brake lights. But that left me with no reverse light. I did not want to mount a separate reverse light to my SAP diffuser. I was suggested to use LED's under the bumper, but I wanted a more OEM+ look. I pondered how I could do this. Then I remembered that SAP diffusers swapped w/ SVT's. However, I never saw someone swap an SAP for an SVT on an SAP bumper. (until I saw jason's [j-miller1974] yesterday lol) The SVT's diffuser had more area to mount a flush factory looking reverse light. So I got to work. I picked up a diffuser from Jenn (focus311). Made a trip to the local junkyard for idea for reverse lights. I found a fog light off a grand prix that had the bulb angled just right so it would not be pointing on the ground. I then used a hole saw and cut a roughly 4" diameter hole in the diffuser. I wanted to utilize the factory bulb/wireharness, so I used a dremel and cut a hole big enough in the fog light to fit the factory bulb. I then got advice from Kevin (saucymuffin) on how to trim the hole to give it a cleaner factory look. I used rubber tubing from a hardware store to trim the hole. I buffed and polished the fog lamp. Then I set the trim and foglight. I used plastic weld to weld brackets to the fog light and diffuser. Installation went ok. I needed to trim some foam from the crash foam so the wire harness/plug would fit. Then I cut/spliced wire from the factory reverse lamp to reach the foglight. Drilled some mounting holes for the diffuser then everything screwed in place. First test, the light illuminated no problems! Hope this was helpful/enjoyable read!
