Front abs issue

The abs light is on in my 2002 focus zts. It has nothing to do with the rear just replaced everything including the abs rings. The codes i got for the front were non communication. The abs sensors themselves look okay, pulled it all apart on both sides to see if the abs rings were still there. Neither were there. So now my confusion websites sell new drive shaft's, but they don't include the rings; and I can't find the abs rings anywhere online. Some wheel bearings say they have a black side that needs to face the sensor. So did ford transition to having the rings integral to the bearings or are the rings on the axle shafts still required? Thanks for any help.

Just because the rings are fine doesn't mean the pick up sensor is good. You can have it tested to pinpoint exactly which corner (or corners) is causing the code. Not sure how you do it myself, but my shop sent my car out to be tested when the light appeared immediately after they replaced a front bearing, it was a back wheel sensor that was gone, the rings were all fine and in place.

That's exactly it, wheel speed sensors read off the bearing surface in these cars. Your post was a little bit confusing, but it'd be easiest to get the code read to find out exactly which corner the problem is in. I'd call part stores around you to find out if they can read ABS codes, I think many can't or won't but I seem to remember having this done at Autozone the first time this happened to me. I'd bet money the sensors themselves are fine (both the sensor and the bearings/tone rings are in a basically sealed environment) and you have a break or corrosion in the wiring somewhere, happened to me 3 times and all 3 I've found the problem with visual inspection and happened to be right.

Pulled the steering knuckle found the bearing had been installed backwards. Problems fixed now thanks.
