2000 manifold is one piece, flows well enough and is expensive to mass produce. 2001+ is two piece of a new simpler design, pressed together and cheaper to make. Just like everything after my 2000, stuff that cost money was dumped in favor of cheaper assembly. Discounting the SVT manifold due to complication of implementation it is best flowing factory manifold and can be had used or new fairly cheaply. 300hp isn't difficult to attain. Keep build cost low and focus on quality hard parts and the best tuning you can buy. |

so as I said I have a ford racing head that I am trying to upgrade with crower valve springs and titanium retainers - so far I got 2 of them installed LOL - spent like 2 hors to get those little furry bastards those which hold retainers on valve noticed how thin are stock springs and how beefy are crower's will post a few pictures how it is done and what have been used
I haven't find any ictures on the forum how and what people use for it so I will make that information available for folks ;)

ok so this is what I have been using in order to exchange valve springs and retainers that came on ford racing head with crower stiff valve springs and titanium retainers
![]() ![]() ![]() it was a bit of pain at first 2-3 springs to put those stupid keepers back in its place but after some tricks it turned to be easy - you will need a flat screwdriver that has some magnetic power (i just scratch it a couple of times witha big magnet ) - tooth pick(1 or 2) to deep it in the engine oild and lube keepers a bit so they become a bit sticky and will stick to valves themselves. I have also used them to fix keepers on valve while attaching keeper that is on the flat screwdriver( magnetically attached ) when you use that tool you will need to compress spring as much as you can and make sure that distance between valve and retainer is enough for keepers a couple of triks and it will be easy to figure it out if there is any questions you guys can ask me :) stock vs crower ![]() FR head ![]() ![]() stock vs crower
