Looks like I get to complain!

I know a lot of people mention the whole "A very small percentage of Focus owners have transmission issues..." and "They come on this site to complain, etc."

I have a friend that bought his Focus in May or June of 2011 (super-early build) and he's NOT a member on this site. He asked me if my car shakes/jerks when shifting gears...

The only other person I know with a 2012 Focus is a nice 50 year old lady in North Carolina. I told her I had the same car - do you know what she asked me? If my car's transmission shifts oddly.

Of course, I recommended they get the 12B37 updates if they hadn't already and that they have the dealer check for the oil leak when they go in. I was just putting this here to say that 100% (granted it's a small sample size) of the 2012 Focus owners I personally know brought up "weird shifting" questions to me and all I could tell them was that my car makes grinding noises and the dealer says it's normal.

Looks like I have exclusive rights to complain as well? I have exhausted every resource possible. The customer service reps on this site are nothing more than a farce of what customer service should be. They can only forward your problem to one person, and that person stops taking your calls or returning your messages as soon as they find out they can't fix your problem with a quick trip to a dealer.

Also I disagree with your statement that all complaining does is annoy people on the site. In fact as you said in your own words, barely anyone that is happy with their car comes to these sites anyway. Complaining gets the word out and helps determine how much of a customer base is having a problem with their car, and lets other with the same problem know that they are not alone.

10 times in, 12B37, 11-12-13, multiple reprograms, nothing is fixed. The complaint letter is almost finished (I've had a lot to write, even about this site) and I suppose we'll see where it goes from there. My completely opinionated assumption is that nothing will happen and the lemon law complaint will be filed in a few weeks.

I would love if there was a fix for it, I don't even mind that I've had to get the radio replaced twice (first replacement didn't work) and have the passenger window switch replaced (window would not roll up with it). IO still love the crap out of this car and I wish I had just gotten a manual instead.

The bottom line is, you buy a new car knowing you're paying thousands more than it's worth the moment you drive off the lot because you are wawnting the new car experience. Few problems, a solid warranty, and a team to back you up if the car fails. Ford has done none of these things and expresses a dislike toward people that have problems with their car. I drove a Ranger for 12 years and never had a problem with it.

This car is a nightmare.

Reading these horror stories makes me wonder about the differences in car configurations and build quality between US and European Foci. The car have been selling like cupcakes in Norway for the last couple of years and there's been no reports of significant issues.

Granted, we don't have the MFT, and the automatic (I assume your DCT is equal to what we call the Powershift) is a much lower percentage of sales (we have the 6MT though), but issues like "clunking"; interior quality and the dozens of other pretty common complaints on this site haven't surfaced in Norwegian reviews and boards. Granted, we're a much smaller population, but still.....

Does anybody have any thoughs on this?

Edit: I can understand Ford offering other engine options (not wanting to import engines and not being geared up in North America to build the European engine models), but things like them not offering simple stuff like LED lights etc that are extremely popular (and useful) in Europe and seemingly much in demand here on the forum also seems headspinningly strange to me.

Careful guys .... the complaint police will come knocking at your door and try to discredit your posts.

We all know there's nothing wrong with these cars .... it's just unenlightened owners who don't understand their cars, and the only people with problems are here on this site complaining. The only reason these cars are selling as they are is the incentives and blowout-deals being used to move them. As we've seen in the past with anything .... if a deal is too good to be true ..... it probably IS too good to be true.

I sold the car and moved on..
My car literally malfunctioned outside a dealer. I took pics of the warning messages and the dealer saw them. Car was indicating overheating and slipped out of gear.
The dealer called 1 day later to say they could not find anything wrong and bring it back if it happens again.

I left the dealer traded it in on another car not from FORD.

@jellybean
I tried it and I tried it so hard! Ford and Mazda denied taking my Focus as a trade in... VW as well, the salesman suggest to try to sell the car on the street, but I can't 'cause it's not pay off yet that's the reason I need to trade it...
I got an appointment next Thursday at the Hyundai leader, finger cross!
