I would be concerned about the bypass pressure of that filter. Its 8-10 PSI is considerably lower than the FL-910s @ 14.5 PSI. It would be more likely than the Motorcraft filter (or several other brands) to bypass contaminants in freezing temperatures, especially when using conventional/blend oils.

If using conventional/blend oils, I would be more likely to recommend a Purolator PureOne PL20195 for increased capacity since its bypass pressure is in line with the FL-910s.

TBN is 12.6 virgin but not linear in depletion. You will still have TBN remaining at 15,000 miles with this lubricant.

Where are you getting these specifications?

It's no secret that nano fiber media from Donaldson out performs anything Ford Motorcraft or Purolator could offer, but it's to be expected at two to three times the price.

I got those specs from Amsoil and Motorcraft. What does your info say the PSI is for the Amsoil filter bypass? Filtering is certainly better with Amsoil's media, and I would never claim otherwise. But that means little if the bypass opens on a frozen morning. Base-end bypass is superior also with the base-up mounting style the Focus uses.

The pressure differential is what is being measured here. If a filter opens the bypass at 8-10 PSI differential (meaning the pressure on the outside of the media is 8-10 PSI more than the pressure on the inside of the media), and the other does it at 14.5 PSI.

Here is my argument, what's the difference? If nano fiber media is far less restrictive, and the EaO34 media is larger (again, less restriction due to more surface area), this means it still has an advantage over the filter that doesn't open till 14.5 PSI...yet has smaller...more restrictive media.

I ask, which filter do you believe is going to remain in bypass longer? I already know the answer to this, and I hope you see it as well.

Who cares? I'd prefer to not go into bypass unless absolutely necessary, wouldn't you?

Just how much less restrictive is the Amsoil filter? (sorry your FAR statistic isn't quite enough for me) I'll bet Amsoil's less restrictive media doesn't come close to making up for the 32% lower bypass pressure spec.

Since you're speculating here, I'm willing to speculate that the Amsoil filter will likely go into bypass more often, and bypass more contaminated oil from the dome of the filter, rather than the less contaminated oil at the threaded base as Motorcraft's bypass design does.

Sorry man, your reply sounds like a whole lot of speculation from an Amsoil fanboy to me (similar to all of your other Amsoil posts).

Simply real world numbers that don't relate at all. A comparison of particle counts from a FL-910s to a 5-micron Amsoil bypass setup wouldn't really mean anything to our discussion of FL-910s vs EaO34 bypass valves now would it?
