I also recommend you don't touch your ECU. It takes a couple of days after an ECU touch before you can go to an inspection computer.

Those computers will tell the tech that you have tampered with the ECU with in a couple of days.

I know, I did it once.

Huh, it takes a couple to few drive cycles not days. You just needed to drive more.

Sounds like a water pump housing leak or something, I suggest you make your own thread instead of hijacking someone's thread that doesn't even pertain to what's going on with your car..

What Paul said is true, resetting the CPU without cycling it will display the Not Ready code for them. So they won't perform the inspection. Did you ever find out what the code was?

kinda right.

when the computer is reset (either by disconnecting the battery or by clearing the codes with a scan tool), there are 6-9 monitors that need to be reset. 4 of them (iirc) cycle almost immediately on the first startup.

The others, O2 sensors, Evap, egr, need to go through drive cycles.

you are allowed to have only ONE not ready, 2 or more and you fail inspection.

in the OP's case, he will fail, because the O2 sensor will come "ready" before the evap (evap is 95% of the time the last to come ready) and cause the CEL to come on.

Either get an O2 cheater or a tune to eliminate that.
