Funny thing you were going to do these when no one else makes them and after reading this thread. Yeah you can always get cheap stuff, guess you know also doesn't work the same. They are custom precision cnc in high quality aluminum, Are you buying? If not stick to the forum rules.

I'm guessing the originals are rubber for a reason, and I don't think it is for comfort. Any thoughts on this?

Do you know where these actually go? If you do you would see that there is nothing wrong with installing these.

My guess would actually be for comfort because it wouldnt get all of the vibrations from the body being mounted solid to the shifter. Which the vibrations IF you could even feel a difference would be very little to none.

I havent had one person install these and complain. Sit back and actually think where these bolt up and tell me any reason you might see them to be a bad upgrade.

Google "solid shifter bushings" you'll find a lot of vendors sell for different cars, here is one explanation,

"JBR Solid Shifter Bushings replace the stock Mazda rubber grommets that hold the shifter cage to the floor board. The JBR Solid Shifter Bushings create more responsive shifts in your MAZDASPEED 6. Having solid spacers removes the sloppy feeling and greatly improves your driving experience."
