I have checked all IP addresses. Anyone found to be a spammer will be banned. For now, try to help one another. Not one of you Focus owners built or designed these cars. If you have complaints/frustrations, call 1-800-392-FORD and tell them instead of logging onto a Ford Focus enthusiast site to complain/argue. We are a community and that means we should help each other, not join and argue.

Thanks for jumping in here, misfire.

As a reminder, those of you who have a concern should stop by your dealerships for diagnosis. I'm always happy to help as well; just send me a PM and we'll get started.

Have a great day,
Crystal

I should add that both this Mark 3 and my Veloster do the exact same thing...

If I shut off the car I will hear what sounds like a motor and clicking in the Focus and in the Veloster I will just hear clicking because said Veloster has no active grille shutters.

The clicking from what I've can tell is the transmission resetting itself for the next startup or something to that affect. Nothing severe or dangerous at all.

Same with opening up the doors or a 'pre-start', your tranny is getting ready to go.

Try it, don't start the car just go into ACC/Power mode and you'll hear more clicking and I'd bet several pesos that all the clicking is coming from the transmission.

This is exactly what the paperwork says that Ford gave me at the dealership. He had to search a while for it, but he found it.

In my experience, Ford is usually one of the faster companies to acknowledge when one of their vehicles requires a recall (unlike like say, toyota, lmao) so I have no doubt in my mind that this in fact is either normal ops, or there will be a recall forthcoming to probably address the powertrain software. Until then, I'm not going to worry about this.

Just an FYI. I actually took the advice above and went one step farther. I went to www.fordowner.com logged in with my Sync info, clicked on "contact us" and e-mailed a detailed complaint to the Ford Motor Company concerning this issue. I guess we'll find out more when and if I get a response.

Why is this an issue? Modern cars have many systems that run before you start the car. The ABS pump will cycle, the fuel injection will pressurize and the pump will run for up to 2 minutes etc. Modern cars make noises. It's normal.

That is what I am having trouble really understanding. My wifes enclave spins up the DVD and does some other stuff as soon as you unlock the door. All in preparation for being used.
