Hey, I know i've posted stuff on questions about air intakes before but pls bear with me i'm just trying to learn all i can before i do something i may regret. I have an spi and i went to the focus meet last weekend in daytona beach,Fl and there was one guy there who had an air intake on his spi. I know it's hard to find parts but i can't get a zetec so i got an idea. Autozone has parts to make custom air intakes by spectre so i thought since the best air flow comes from less bends in the piping why not just make a 3" straight stack from the throttle body an throw a k&n air filter on it instead of curving it like other intakes that go where the box use to be, that way the air has less distance to travel. has anyone tried this and will it work?
I was also gonna equip a electric supercharger in the intake it's suppose to give on average 3-5psi and it comes with the k&n filter and performance chip/ reflasher. The web site is superchargertuning.com they have on for the focus spi and it only opens at WOT so the engine doesnt blow. has anyone tried this or something similar. Im on a $750-$1000 budget. thanks in advance.

IIRC you can buy an intake for a zetec for you spi you just have to change the coupler that connects the intake to the throttle body,it would be better then buying the autozone junk intake, electric supercharger...lol save you money you could build a turbo kit look here for help on the kit http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=84581

Buy a Volant CAI and use the stock intake tube, I did that to mine and it works wonders on how the car feels and runs.

The stock box is held in to the car by three plastic studs in rubber grommets. all you have to do is unplug the sensor and/ unbolt the MAF tube and pull evenly upward the air-box untill it comes out.
Then you have free space to do whatever you want with! |

so you can take out the box without removing the snorkel.
