Intelligent Access

Anyone else with a titanium having trouble with intelligent access and their doors not opening? My driver side door does not always appear to recognize my hand and the door does not unlock. The passenger side works perfect. I have tried pulling the fuses... No luck there. Anyone else have this issue?

I think it has to do with the angle I approach the car at times. I expect it will happen on occasion though, so it does not bother me. I work in the technology industry so realize technology is not perfect

Now one thing I do want to figure out is how to get it to unlock all the doors and not just the one I open. I figure that is a setting someplace but I have not been able to find it yet.

Grab the rear door handle and all four will unlock.

However, if you want all four to unlock all of the time, then:

Two-stage unlocking may be disabled or enabled by simultaneously
pressing the lock and unlock controls on the transmitter for four seconds
(disabling two stage unlock allows all vehicle doors to unlock
simultaneously). The turn signal lamps will illuminate twice to indicate
that two-stage unlock was enabled or disabled. The unlocking mode will
be applied to remote entry, keyless entry and intelligent access (if
equipped).
Two-stage unlocking may also be disabled or enabled through the
message center if this is an available message center option or by your
authorized dealer. Refer to Message center in the Instrument Cluster
chapter.
If equipped with an IA key, when two-stage unlocking is disabled,
intelligent access at the driver’s door results in an unlock of all doors
(not just the driver door).

I have the same problem except opposite doors. Our drivers door works great but passengers doesn't. Also, the door lock on passenger door doesn't lock the doors. Haven't had time to take it to dealer yet.

On my hatchback, the liftgate doesn't respond to the nearby key. From what I understand, you should be able to press the button above the rear license plate to open the liftgate. Mine stays locked unless unlocked via opening all doors, or via the button on the key. All other doors function normally.

Update to my post above:

Took the car to the dealer and the problem is now fixed. (Liftgate would not unlock with key in pocket while pressing button above license plate.)

Apparently, a connector was not plugged in causing the problem.

Just upgraded from 2010 Escape to 2013 Focus on Saturday.

Forgive me a few goofy lifestyle questions about "intelligent" access?

1) When you jog, do you have to find a place on your person for the fob? I'm thinking my shorts pocket is mighty small...

2) If I keep one fob in my purse (for shopping - stays in the car while I work) and the second in my laptop satchel (for office - stays in the car while I shop), I'll always have one fob with me and one in the car.
a) I CAN lock the one fob in the car while walking away with the second one, right?
b) Do I have to use the fob to remotely lock the second fob in the car, or when I hit "lock" on the center console, will the car stay locked when I walk away, even though there's a fob inside?

3) I work in a sketchy neighborhood and hate the idea that when I walk to my car, my fob opens the doors for somebody to jump in the other side.
a) If I get my dealership to disable Auto Unlock then when I walk up to my car, ONLY my door can be opened, right?
b) with Auto Unlock disabled, will I have to push the fob button to unlock my door? Or can I still unlock just my door by opening the handle?

DEEPLY APPRECIATE answers.

You cannot lock a fob inside the car. The car will always unlock again if it detects a key is inside.
If all the doors are locked and you drop your key in the trunk and close it it will repop the trunk. If the doors are unlocked it lets you close the trunk on the key

I've discovered the problem with me not getting the car to recognize my key. It's the range of the key to the door and I come at it sometimes in a weird angle with my key in my side pocket on the opposite side of the reaching hand so it's just out of range for it to recognize me. Once I turn and use my other hand thus putting the key a tad closer to the door it opens for me

"Intelligent" Access means Stupid Alternantives?

Great, so I have to drag the huge stupid fob everywhere I go?

And if I ever forget the fob in the car then I'll walk away with an unlocked car and probably my company laptop sitting on the back seat?

Oh, this BITES.

I can't even set out for the sand & surf with a naked emergency key because the fob has to be with me in order to drive the car.

What the heck were they thinking? Is the return time 3 days for the Focus?
