Hello everyone,
First post here. Well I've been looking at buying a new car. My 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix is about to give up the ghost. I'm 95% sure I'm going to buy a 2013 Ford Focus S with Sync. I've looked at several other cars (Dart, Jetta, Cruze, Scion XD. I had also considered the Fiesta) and have found all those wanting. So I guess I'm here just to ask what you think of it? Is it expensive to maintain? I know gas is pretty good on it. Are parts expensive? any advice would be great Thanks everyone! I hope to drive my focus in the next couple of months |

I've had my 09 second gen for about a year. It had 12k on it. I haven't had a problem with it yet. Only money I've put into it is for mods wheels, lights, tint, etc..
Ford's are really solid imo.

Where am I?

There have been some minor problems associated with My Ford Touch, the Dual Clutch Transmissions and a clunk from the suspension. But all of these are being handled by Technical Service Bulletins and shouldn't be any problem. Since the Focus is a completely new rebuild there are going to be small problems the first couple of years. For example, when the Focus was first introduced back in 1999 as a 2000 model there were various problems that plagued it the first couple of years, after those problems were resolved the Focus had a long run of reliability. From your first post you are suggesting that you're going to be getting the Ford Focus S and should be avoiding most of these small issues. You will enjoy the car for it's entire life and should be mostly trouble free as long as you regularly maintain it. Good luck on your purchase.

Get a manual transmission!
More fun to drive, more reliable, and cheaper (if I'm not mistaken) than the DCT. |

I own a 04 and a 12. both has been fantastic. My 04 has 162,000 trouble free miles just regular maintenance.
My only suggestion is to go for the SE, its provides a few more creature comforts that most people like to have.
