Trunk release button doesn't work

For about a year now my trunk release button in the dash hasn't worked. I mean I have gotten around it by just using the trunk release button on the key remote, but now it is just making me mad. I don't know if it is the button or if it could be something electrical with the wiring. I was thinking about just buying a new button but I wasn't sure if that would solve the problem. Anyone else having trouble with the button?

mine doesnt work either, sounds like it does, but doesnt. thats ok by me altho, no one can break into my car and get my speakers w/out letting me know first

I had the same issue.

I had it replaced at the dealer. I just didn't want to deal with the hassle.

$174 including labor will get it repaired.

Okay... Now this is my input realize! My release works OK... though problems have existed in the past! All I know, is that if I pop my trunk... and it does work... It wont close... I pull the little thing in the trunk... I guess I would call it the escape release.. either way thats the only way it would close... Either way... try batteries always! Then go forward!

im gonna try replacing the button at first to see if thats the problem. if that doesnt fix the problem im not gonna worry about. its not worth it to have it repaired, i could definitely think of better ways to spend $174 lol

I assume you know that the dash button is disabled if the doors have been locked? e.g., if the doors lock automatically when you drive, you must press the "unlock" button for the door locks to enable the dash button for the rear.

I assume this is a "safety" feature.

ok guys i have this problem too...
remote work, key work...
only the button by the cluster doesn't work!!
what can i do...
do i just take off the cluster and make sure it is plug in
or make sure all the wires are attached?

I took mine apart and looped a wire on the contacts. Mine popped right open. That's the easiest way to check the button. For whatever reason the button didn't push in far enough. If I pushed the rubber cap behind the button, it worked. I trimmed a few spots with a razor knife and its been fine. I didn't work for about a year and a half.

Mine will not work after i turn the car off. I must open the door first then it works every time. I think it is a safety thing

Mine has been doing that for some time. If i use the button or the key fob it wont close. i have to pull the release from the trunk lid while open. I tool it to the dealer. They want almost $200 to replace the latch and motor assembly. I have had to pass for a while. I can deal with pulling the release. Just sucks it fails so easy.
