Phoenix area modifiers, CAI CARB question?
I was at the K&N website, and they have no CARB compliant CAI for the 2012, and their info states that AZ has the same CARB rules that CA has. I just moved here and bought a 2012 Focus and was wanting to modify it with a CAI and a cat back exhaust. Is this gonna be a problem when I go through emissions here in the east valley / Apache Junction? Is there a CARB compliant CAI for the 2012? Thanks for any input.

I've never heard of needing CARB certified parts out here. I though AZ was one of the more lenient states in regards to emissions and inspection. But then again I'm more central valley.

Thanks for the response. That is what I was thinking but what I read on the K&N site was confusing me. Plus I don't know if Pinal County is any different as far as emissions go compared to Maricopa County. I would think Pinal would be even more lax.

Yeah, I Google searched and it completely threw me off. I have had friends go through emissions with tons of aftermarket work done and still pass without a problem, so I really wouldn't think you'd have an issue.

I have a CAI, header, and full exhaust and I'm yet to have an issue with anything. Maybe I didn't have the header when I last registered it. I wouldn't worry much about it. If you are truly that worried keep the stock stuff and if needed you can always reinstall it when you need to take your car to pass it's physical.

getting past emissions in Arizona is a joke. maricopa and i think pima county's are the only ones that even require it. i make a point to make sure my exhaust pipes and bumpers are thoroughly coated with carbon before i go in.
