I have/had a first gen Pathfinder.
Amazing off road capabilities. And pretty great on the road too.

But this, this is no Pathfinder my friends.
I don't know what it is, but it is surely not finding any paths in my book.

AND THEY GOT RID OF THE AWESOME VERTICAL HANDLES.

NOT COOL MAN.

You mean like just about all the new Japanese manufacturers. Honda has gotten uglier, Toyota uglier, Subaru Uglier, Mazda and all those companies keep coming up with hideous designs as of the past few years/ redesigns.

I wouldn't go quite that far. Most of those manufacturers have a few attractive cars and a few ugly ones. It just seems every single Nissan is ugly now. However that is just my opinion.

Plus this is the underpinnings for the Infiniti JX, which is one of the best looking SUVs currently made imo.
You sure weren't thinking about a Jeep, which you forgot about, huh. Only in a Jeep!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Pathfinder was never alive to me.. so no harm, no foul.

If I want to whoop ass off road, I'll buy a Raptor.. or an H1 Hummer.

I really wish they would stop calling these tall station wagons "SUV." There should be a divide in the industry where "SUV" is a durable vehicle intended for off road use. The car based units that may never see so much as a gravel road should be labeled something else altogether.

Alas this would never happen. The majority of SUV buyers are people concerned with image and calling them anything else could spell financial disaster.

true.

oddly enough I keep seeing the Nissan parts explosion commercial for this thing now... they claim something about taking everything the pathfinder was and putting more "car" into it. not exactly a great selling point there. well damn it is honestly... :/

There's a Toyota for that..... Highlander? Yep, and will never see more than a gravel road or flat grassy field.

well there is the 4runner still but they're are keeping it body on frame like the tundra. I hear the KDSS on the trail edition does wonderful things off road.

It looks like Nissan is following the footsteps of Ford in moving towards the uni-body platform like the Explorer. Which is probably not a bad idea considering the majority of these buyers "I think" would prefer the better ride comfort over the body on frame.

I did have the opportunity to test drive the Infiniti JX(Pathfinder Clone) and it was awfully slow. I also didn't like CVT transmission very well and felt it was very unresponsive. I do like the styling on this model a lot more over the previous generations. Hopefully in a few years Nissan will have more engine options as it's definitely under powered with the 3.5L V6.
