- When MFT displays the "text message" received notification, the notification and related action buttons only stay on screen for about 2 seconds which is not usually enough time for the driver to read the message and/or press the "speaker" button onscreen to hear the message audibly (though if your quick enough to press the button the system will read the message to you).

Is this what's happening with others here? Any tips or tricks out there to get this working more seamlessly?
Here's the voice commands that work for me(I think, I'll confirm at lunch).

hit paddle, tone, say "phone", tone, say "play message one".

UPDATE: Actually all you need to say is "Listen message 1" or whatever message number you want to hear. No need to even say "Phone".

Huh, you are quite right about this. If I give the old command "listen to message", I get "this phone does not support messaging . . .". If I say "listen to message one", it does read the message.

If I say reply to message, I still get "this phone does not support messaging".

You can say "listen message 2(etc)" and it will play whichever number you choose.

What if you got a few messages and you don't know which message number is which? How can you get it to read the most recent message?

The most recent message is message number 1. You can also navigate to messages and it shows the number next to the message.

OK Lewisra - now get busy on a work-around for MFTs unwillingness to send a reply.

OK, so the Iphone will work with text messaging on sync?
With my Windows 8 phone (nokia lumina 822), text messages come, sync alerts me and asks what I want to do and it will read the message to me and then allow me send a reply and does send a reply. This works in sync system in both my 2013 Focus (Sync VersionGen2 - V3.5.1) and my wife's 2011 Mustang (Sync VersionGen1 - V3.1).
I was actually caught off guard the first time I received a txt message in a car and sync alerted me to it. More surprised that it did a good job reading it and sending a reply.
My wife, with her iphone 5 (IOS 6.1) does not appear to work with text messaging and sync.
